General donations are extremely important to helping HYS close the gap between registration and other fees and actual operational costs. Gifts received from this fund are used to meet operating expenses such as music programming, financial aid, rehearsal space rental, concert production costs, neighbor island tours, workshops, music and instrument maintenance.

Thanks to the foresight and generosity of Dr. Jonathan Y. C. Ching, HYS has established an alumni endowment fund. This fund was opened at the request of Dr. Ching’s family to ensure that HYS is able to recruit and retain the very finest music educators. HYS and the Ching family encourage other alumni to contribute to this fund and give future generations the opportunity to experience the same positive benefits that they did from the Youth Symphony.
