Auditions for the 2019/20 season:

Hawaii Youth Symphony’s auditions for the Symphony Program Ensembles (YSI, YSII and CO) will take place in May and June along the following schedule:

Day One, 5/18/19: Violins*

Day Two, 5/19/19: Low Strings*

Day Three, 5/25/19: Woodwinds

Day Four, 5/26/19: Brass 

Day Five, 6/1/19: Percussion and Harp

*Note: Returning YSI string players will not be required to audition. All YSI strings will perform a separate, seating audition in August. Returning YSI winds, brass, percussion and harp will need to perform a spring audition.
Audition music will be available for all students beginning on April 15, 2019 and posted online.
Audition applications will also be made available by the end of March!

Academy String Program

The following programs/orchestras require an audition prior to enrollment:

    • String Orchestra Ensemble
    • Concert String Orchestra (top Academy orchestra)

Auditions for the two top orchestras in our String Program (Concert String Orchestra and String Orchestra Ensemble) are held in mid-August. You must submit an audition application by the deadline to participate. Applications for each season are available and accepted after July 15, for the upcoming school year. Receipt of a fully completed application form and fee are required before an audition can be scheduled. Fees are waived for students who auditioned for the Symphony Orchestra Program.
