Midori’s Orchestra Residencies Program

The world-famous violinist MIDORI is recognized as an extraordinary performer, a devoted and gifted educator, and an innovative community engagement activist. In April 2016, HYS collaborated with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra (HSO) to bring Midori to Hawaii. Over the course of 4 days, Midori and her teaching assistant GaHyun Cho taught and performed nearly 30 activities for HYS students, community centers, and schools. The activities ranged from performance demonstrations to school outreach sessions; care home visits to masterclasses; and of course, a concert with Youth Symphony I.
