Summer Strings 2022 at Spalding Clubhouse

Registration is now CLOSED!
Please see the Academy Strings Program page for information about the 2022-2023 season (September – May).
Summer Strings is for students who are interested in learning to play orchestral string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass). Students will learn instrumental technique, rhythmic patterns, note reading skills, listening skills, concepts of musicality, basics of group playing, improvisation, and a variety of musical styles. In addition to the time spent in class, students are expected to practice at home daily for optimal progress. Summer Strings consists of two classes: Beginning and Intermediate, and will be taught by Mr. Jeff Hamano. Students are also expected to bring their instrument, music book, and a pencil to class.
Students must be able to attend the entire duration of the 5 week Summer Strings Class to participate. If you have known absences, please check with HYS at admin@hiyouthsymphony.org to get approval from the Summer Strings teacher prior to registering.
For the safety of our students, staff and faculty, all students 12 & older will be required to have received the COVID-19 vaccine to participate in Summer Strings. Spots are limited due to COVID-19 restrictions and will be on a first come, first served basis.
This program is presented in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii.
