Jazz Guitar

Chris DeRose teaches jazz guitar at UTA. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies and a Masters in Music Theory from the University of North Texas. Chris has taught Jazz studies and Theory at Cedar Valley College and the University of Texas at Dallas, and was the Dallas Symphony’s “Pops” guitarist for the last 40 years, as well as a member of the Dallas Summer Musicals pit orchestra.  Chris has performed with many artists, including the Pointer Sisters, Nancy Wilson, Andrea Bocelli, Willie Nelson, and Michael Feinstein, among others. Chris has been a member of jazz groups such as the Lou Fischer Rehearsal Band, the Collection Jazz Orchestra, Them Bones, and Strata. Chris fronts the Chris DeRose Quartet, (CD “Live at the Sammons”), and was featured in the May 2012 and Feb 2013 issues of “Just Jazz Guitar” magazine.
