Associate Principal Percussion, Hawaii Symphony Orchestra; Faculty, University of Hawaii at Manoa

A native of Rochester, NY, Jordan Schifino studied both percussion and piano at the Eastman School of Music with Ruth Cahn and Alla Kuznetsov respectively. He attended the Cleveland Institute of Music where he received his BM and MM in Percussion and Timpani Performance with Richard Weiner and Paul Yancich.

 

Schifino has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonia Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria, Wicked: The Musical, among others. In addition to performing, he is the Lecturer of Percussion at the University of Hawaii Manoa, has served as percussion faculty for the Pacific Music Institute and has worked as a percussion and eurhythmics Teaching Artist with Hawaii’s el Sistema program, Kalikolehua. Schifino also maintains a private percussion studio and serves on the board of the Hawaii Youth Percussion Ensemble – an ensemble founded and led by Zach Morita providing an opportunity for students to study percussion music in a chamber setting.

 

Mr. Schifino is the Associate Principal Percussionist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.
