NEW FOR 2020: VIRTUAL FUNDRAISER
Now, more than ever, music has the power to bridge communities that cannot physically connect and unite and inspire our youth. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has presented many obstacles that prevent children from taking traditional music classes, we have been hard at work to continue delivering quality music education to Hawaii’s youth. Our HYS+ online learning program, along with our jazz, string, and general music classes have shifted with the uncertain times, and we promise to remain dedicated to our mission. Because we believe in the power of music and in sharing the gift of music with the Hawaii community, this year, HYS will be producing a special one-hour television event to raise awareness of and funds towards our vision to make music a right, not a privilege.
Pre-recorded and televised, the event will feature performances by HYS students, world-renowned entertainers Jake Shimabukuro and Raiatea Helm, and collaborative performances with five junior orchestras, and a junior ukulele orchestra, from Hawaii’s sister cities in Japan!
Air Dates:
- PREMIERE! Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 8:00 pm (KHNL); HawaiiNewsNow.com
- Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 7:00 pm (K5); HawaiiNewsNow.com
Television presents an incredible opportunity to introduce the HYS mission and showcase our performers to a broad audience. HYS is partnering with Hawaii News Now to produce this special one-hour television event.
Interview segments will share student success stories with viewers and remind them of the importance of music education. HYS relies on the generosity of supporters like you to further our mission while navigating new times. We appreciate your consideration of sponsorship of this year’s event. Your contribution will go towards breaking down barriers like financial hardship, access to qualified music teachers, and the high cost of instruments.
